A employee raising a grievance is likely to have a concern, problem, or complaint about their work, the workplace, or someone they work with, that they feel is unfair and/or unjust on them. Common examples might be difficulties in a relationship with a colleague, feeling they have been passed over for promotion, or believing the working environment is negatively impacting them.
Grievances are often very personal things, and so how we deal with them as managers is very important. If you are new to the role in management and you’re facing handling a grievance for the first time, it’s understandable that you might be concerned about ensuring you follow the right process, or you may have been in your role for some time and need some support in ensuring you’re doing the right thing for your team. The latest module of the HR Masterclass covers everything you need to know about handling grievances.
