Practice Index HR Package FAQs

With pre-employment checks a necessity in a healthcare environment, making sure you’re ahead of the necessary steps is critical. Well-managed onboarding and offboarding are also vital to the success of your practice. Our HR Package enables you to manage all of your essential HR processes with ease, including HR alerts, records and checks, as well as holidays, sickness and timesheets.

Following the launch, we’ve had a few recurring questions through our support team, so we have compiled a summary of the frequently asked questions below.

Do I need to pay TOIL in Timesheet Manager?

No, once you’ve approved TOIL, it’s added straight to your staff member’s TOIL balance in Holiday Manager.

We don’t offer TOIL; can I switch this off?

Yes, you can change this under ‘Practice Settings’ in Timesheets Manager.

We offer different pay rates depending on the reason for overtime; will this work?

Yes, it will. We’ve added some standardised rates, but you can also add your own.

Can we pay TOIL as overtime if staff have built up too much, or would it take them under the relevant pay threshold?

Yes, there are a couple of options; you can set TOIL to automatically convert to pay if it hasn’t been used within the number of days you specify, or you can manually convert TOIL to pay at a point to suit you.

I need to let payroll know what we need to pay staff; can I do this?

Yes, our reports can be exported to Excel.

How do my staff add overtime or TOIL?

Staff add overtime and TOIL using the ‘My Overtime’ screen.

Can I manage my staff HR records through the HR Package?

Yes, managing staff HR records is quick and easy using HR Records Manager. You can even export the data to Excel.

How do I manage HR checks for onboarding and offboarding?

We’ve populated standard checks for you, and even added standard checklists. You can add to our checklists or build your own checklist specific to your practice or group. Simply add your check, make it active, add your check to a checklist and then make that active too. You can easily add dropdowns, checkboxes, files and dates, as well as text fields to cover every type of check. You can add checklists to groups of staff or to an individual member of staff.

Can I use the HR Package to keep track of any important changes to HR guidance and legislation?

Yes, you can check and manage HR Alerts using the HR Package. You can share, delegate and manage important actions including linked policies.
