I moved to Cornwall 3 years ago to start a new job in a new practice – the sun, the sea, the walks on the beach with the dog…..I had it all planned……….so what the flip-floppin’ ‘eck happened this week when we had 3 inches of snow?!!!!   I did NOT move to Cornwall for snow!!!

This week’s rant (because there’s a least one a week now!!) is about the endless bureaucracy and paperwork that we all suffer with…….don’t you just love the clip boards and their hi-viz jackets wandering around telling us what we should and shouldn’t be doing?!!

We’re heading into 2018 and things in GP-Land haven’t looked this glum for a while. Demand from patients versus resources available, recruitment/retention issues for GPs, a practice nurse crisis and we have employees ready for retirement but not enough newly qualifieds to take over. Need I go on?

Living in Cornwall is lovely (most of the time), but some rented properties we’ve stayed in have had more than their fair share of mould spores (there’s a bit of damp around in the walls…. sea fret…

My office is situated quite close to our main reception area, and if internal doors are left open (much to my annoyance) I can hear pretty much everything that goes on.  Sometimes this can be a good thing – because I’ll hear that receptionist who is always pleasant, doesn’t breach anything in reception and regardless…
