Since its launch in March 2022, the Gender Identity Toolkit for General Practice, created in collaboration between LGBT Foundation Pride in Practice, Indigo Gender Service, the IGPM and Practice Index has become the definitive guidance document on providing consistent care for trans and non-binary patients in primary care, consolidating statutory requirements and best practice guidance.
Due to the current system used by PCSE (NHAIS), it is not possible to have a perceived mismatch between title and gender marker. For example, on the system you cannot be a ‘Mrs’ with a male gender marker. Therefore, the guidance has been updated to take this into account.
If you are a Practice Index forum member, the updated version of the toolkit is available to download here free of charge. You will receive automatic email notifications of any future updates.
You can also access the toolkit via Policy Manager in the HUB here.
If you are not registered for the forum or HUB you can download a copy here.
