Course description:
The terminology used when dealing with violent and abusive patients will be discussed during this course, along with the associated legislation underpinning practice policy. De-escalation techniques and practical guidance will be given to delegates on how to deal with such patients and the associated administrative procedures.
Objectives
- Understand why patients may be violent, aggressive and/or abusive
- Learn the correct approach to take when dealing with violent, aggressive or abusive patients
- Understand what preventative measures can be taken
- Learn how to manage patients’ expectations appropriately
- Learn about the significance of communication when dealing with such patients
