Safeguarding Children (Level 2)

Overview

Safeguarding Children Level 2 is the level required for all clinical and non-clinical staff working in healthcare who in their role have contact (no matter how small) with children and young people and/or adults who may pose a risk to children. The course explains to learners how to identify signs of abuse or neglect and what actions to take.

This mandatory training course has been aligned to the Skills for Health Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF).

Objectives

1. Understand what is meant by abuse and neglect
2. Recognise what constitutes maltreatment in child safeguarding
3. Gain an overview of the signs of abuse
4. Recognise individual and collective responsibilities
5. Appreciate the need for accurate record-keeping in relation to safeguarding concerns
6. Know when and why it is appropriate to share information and how to make a safeguarding referral
