Overview
This informative course will give staff an appreciation of the causes of domestic violence and abuse, provide learners with an understanding of the associated terminology, and also guide learners in identifying and supporting people who may be experiencing domestic violence and/or abuse.
Objectives
1. Understand what is meant by the terms domestic violence and domestic abuse
2. Learn about the various types of violence and abuse
3. Recognise how to identify the warning signs of domestic violence and abuse
4. Gain an overview of how to assess the risk of domestic violence and/or abuse
5. Understand the effects of domestic abuse / violence on children
6. Appreciate your individual responsibilities should you suspect domestic violence / abuse
