About the role

Apply for job

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bampton Medical Practice, a busy and successful 2 partner GMS practice with 9200 patients. The practice is based in the West Oxfordshire market town of Bampton, the location for the filming of Downton Abbey. We have an on-site pharmacy and a branch surgery in nearby Carterton. We have a small team of 26 employees who work together as a friendly, supportive and highly effective unit.

The ideal candidate will already be a successful practice manager, an aspiring deputy practice manager or an experienced manager from another sector with the transferable skills and proven ability necessary to make the transition to this role with ease.

We are looking for someone who is committed to maintaining the standards of care which our patients have come to expect. You should have excellent communication skills, financial acumen, experience of working in an information technology intensive environment and an understanding of the dynamics and efficiencies required to make a small business successful. You will enjoy managing every aspect of a complex small business with the support of the Assistant Practice Manager.

You will play a key role in ensuring that the practice maintains the standards expected by the Care Quality Commission in a primary care setting. You will therefore need  detailed knowledge of the fundamental standards of care, encompassing clinical governance, information governance, health and safety, human resources management and safeguarding. You will be responsible for the financial control of the organisation, maximising income, controlling costs, maintaining the accounting records and overseeing the payroll.

You will play a key role in engaging with the wider health community, including our Integrated Care System, Clinical Commissioning Group and local Primary Care Network. By networking with other practice managers and through your own research, you will help ensure that the practice keeps up to date with the latest changes occurring on a local and national level. The practice manager chairs our Patient Participation Group and manages patient feedback.

You will have the ability to think strategically and assist in future planning to help maintain our delivery of patient centred care in the face of an evolving healthcare sector.

The Partnership considers it important to develop a mutually supportive and close working relationship with our new manager and we look forward to welcoming this important new member of the team.
