    Course description:
    This course is designed to increase delegates’ knowledge of medical terminology in certain areas in order to develop their own competence and confidence and maximise the effectiveness of patient care.

    The objectives of the course are to enable delegates to be able to:
    • consolidate their knowledge of medical terminology
    • state the meaning of medical prefixes and suffixes at an advanced level
    • identify root words and basic anatomy of:
      • digestive system
      • skeletal system
      • dermatology
      • gynaecology
      • nervous system
      • cardiology
      • oncology

    Delegates will receive a comprehensive course manual and a certificate of attendance.

    Staff who have attended the ‘Intermediate medical terminology’ course and who want to extend their knowledge of medical terminology.

    Full two days: £1750 + VAT

    About the trainers:

    Alison Bingley
    Alison has a background in the pharmaceutical industry having spent 6 years with Geigy Pharmaceuticals as a Territory Manager covering GP surgeries, hospitals and retail pharmacists. She has a Bsc. Hons degree in Physiology and Pharmacology from the University of Southampton and joined MST as an associate trainer in 1996. Alison is based in Dorset and covers the South and South West of the country.

    Hilary Andrews
    Hilary worked in adult intensive care for the majority of her early nursing career including taking on the role of Education & Development Sister in ITU at the Kent & Sussex Hospital. Then in 2002 she diversified into primary care and has project managed both clinical and practice based projects for various General Practice partnerships, including carrying out an ongoing project looking at the New GMS Contract.

    Hilary was involved with the Working in Partnership Programme's (WiPP's) HCA initiative between 2005 and 2008 and in 2006 she became an independent Nurse Advisor, presenting at conferences and carrying out research projects for various organisations. This role continues on a part time basis whilst also acting as an associate trainer for MST. Hilary has been with MST since 2005 and works in the South East of the country.

    Victoria Boyle
    Victoria's background is in nursing having spent several years as a Staff Nurse in a large London hospital. She joined the MST team in 1996. As well as training for MST, Victoria now also spends time as a school nurse. Her friendly approach helps to put delegates at ease and consistently results in excellent evaluations from course participants. Victoria is based in Chislehurst, Kent and covers the South East of the country

    Vicky Wild
    Vicky is a professionally accredited trainer and an RGN nurse. Her NHS experience includes orthopaedics/rheumatology, intensive care, practice nursing and school nursing. Outside of the NHS Vicky has supported the implementation of medical studies with clinical research companies, as has provided training and advice to primary health care professionals on behalf of Bayer UK. Vicky joined MST in 2000. She is based in West Yorkshire and works extensively within the NHS across the North of England.
