Restrictions on the type of patient able to register with the controversial GP at Hand app-based service have been lifted, it has been reported.
An NHS England clinical review has also ruled that the service meets safety standards, the Health Service Journal reported.
The ruling means the service can now register patients with dementia and those with complex physical or mental health conditions as well as pregnant women and those needing end of life care. It does not mean the service has yet gained permission to expand out of London.
The rulings were revealed in papers tabled for the Hammersmith and Fulham Clinical Commissioning Group.
A spokesperson for Babylon told the journal: “Safety is the number one priority and Babylon GP at Hand works closely with NHS commissioners to ensure this. We are delighted that commissioners are assured our service and technology meets the high standards required in the NHS.
“We are very pleased that there is no longer any ambiguity that Babylon GP at Hand is a service for all who choose it.”
