Why is there so much to do at this time of year? Come to think of it, why is there so much to do at any time of year?
With the end of the financial year almost upon us, as we know there are many loose ends to be tied up before, or around, the end of March each year. With this in mind, a new planning tool is now available to Practice Index PLUS members, entitled “End of Year Planning Protocol for 2018/19”. To assist my practice manager colleagues, I’ve broken this down into various sections, including the requirements for both the NHS and HMRC departments.
NHS requirements
Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF)
- Dates when CQRS submissions are required
- Reminder to sign up for 2019/20
- Checklist
- Manual submissions for this year
- Link to FAQs
Enhanced Services
- GP contract for 2019/20
- Preparations for the new year
- Immunisation claiming and links to which groups are entitled to receive a vaccination
Data Security and Protection Toolkit
- Timescales
- Training requirements
- Relevant DSPT policies and guidance
There’s also another section on other NHS contractual requirements and things to be considered at this time of year.
To further assist my PM colleagues, I’ve included:
HMRC requirements
- A guide to closing payroll year end, including P60s, EPS and FPS submissions and cut-off dates
- Pension requirements for employees and partners (Type 1 certificates and Estimates of Pensionable Profits/Pay), advice on how to submit and subsequent deadlines for these
The other year-end requirements
I have purposefully split the year-end needs into March and April requirements as the business year-end can be at any time. We do also have a Business End of Year Planning Protocol [PLUS] to help you detail all that your accountant will be asking for at the end of your business year.
Lastly, there’s a short reminder to plan early for next year. Good luck, it’ll soon be summer!
